Drivers for Adoption of GCDocs
There are many drivers for government departments and agencies to adopt GCDocs, but there is one driver that stands above them all - the vision of Canada's new Chief Information Officer, Alex Benay. After only months on the job, Mr Benay has been clear there is a need for an overarching 'digital transformation' mandate. In a recent Ottawa Business Journal article the Mr Benay had this to say about the future of technology in the Canadian government,
“Now it’s about, how do we engage with people, how do we collaborate more, how do we do things faster, how do we make people mobile, how do we process certain transaction points more quickly … so I think the role that I’ve inherited is about trying to bring a different lens to the technology landscape of government.” Click here to view the full OBJ Article. |
Expect GCDocs Implementations to Accelerate
We expect Mr Benay's leadership to accelerate the adoption of GCDocs across the Government of Canada. As a former Vice President of Open Text Corporation he understands the value GCDocs will bring to each department. Perhaps most insightful, is that Mr Benay, during his time as Director of Information Management at Global Affairs Canada, successfully led the implementation and adoption of Open Text's RDIMS solution - the predecessor of GCDocs. Mr Benay intimately knows the technical and business hurdles in the way and will be clearing a path for each department/agency to do the same. More details to come on this exciting development.
